Kick-Off Walk to School Route

We need at least 4 volunteers from 7:30 am to 8:30 am to walk along (ride bike if needed) with students. (Volunteers will need to submit volunteer screening forms.)

Walk times:
7:30 - 7:45 am. Chaperones meet at Ingham park
7:50 am. Parents can begin dropping off their kids at Ingham park
8:05 am. Walk begins
8:30 am School begins at Averill

This route is approximately 0.5 miles.

Safe Routes to School Chaperone


Averill Woods Neighborhood Association, in cooperation with Averill Elementary School and the City of Lansing, have been piloting a Safe Routes to School program. 

We would like to culminate the pilot year with a Walk to School from Ingham Park to Averill Elementary School.

Time: 7:30 a.m.
Place: Ingham Park

Note: Volunteers must pass a simple background check before participating as a chaperone.
