Nutrition and Exercise

Averill Elementary School takes part in the "Shaping Positive Lifestyles & Attitudes through School Health" program of the Michigan Nutrition Network.
Recess & Gym Classes

Averill Elementary has three playground areas. This includes a playground structure for 5-12 year olds and a very new playground structure for the pre-school age group to accomodate the growing pre-school program. Nearby Averill Park also has a new playground structure for use afterschool.
Soccer

Averill Elementary School sponsors spring and fall soccer teams through Lansing Parks and Recreation. Averill Elementary current has three teams, which is more than any other school in the district and surpasses the number of teams for even the competitive soccer programs!
Coached by teachers Mrs. Bossie and Mr. Mays, the 5-6 year olds and 7-8 year olds are learning soccer skills, teamwork, and how to have fun staying active.

T-Ball

Averill Elementary School sponsors T-ball teams for students through the Lansing Parks and Recreation department and the teams are coached by beloved veteran volunteer Curlee Foster.
