Contact 911 for any emergencies in any location
  • If a crime is in progress
  • If someone is hurt, injured, or in harms' way
  • If there are any types of weapons involved
  • If there is a known suspect
  • If there is a destruction of property, fire, gas leak, etc.
  • If any health and safety issues are present
  • If the non-emergency line is not working and you need to report a non-emergency

Call the LPD non-emergency number at 483-4600  to report problems such as these:
  • Suspicious activities
  • Someone "casing" the area
  • If it involves a loose dog or vicious animal determine who you should call.

Note: Any properties that are North of Holmes Road and sit directly on Waverly are within Eaton County's jurisdiction.  For non-emergencies in Eaton County call 382-8217 ext. #2.

Lansing Police Department's online crime reporting system offers Lansing citizens another way to report specific, non-emergency crimes that do not require an immediate police response such as these:
  • Larceny, malicious destruction of property (MDOP), and retail fraud with no suspect or evidence, where the value is under $1,000 and no Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) entry is required.
  • Attempted Breaking and Entering of unoccupied buildings, including garages and unoccupied residence or foreclosed houses.
  • Identification thefts when the victim was not financially harmed or the financial institution has reimbursed the victim for monetary loss.
  • Frauds or unauthorized credit card use when the venue of the crime is outside the City of Lansing.
  • Harassing communication
  • Lost property

TO ANONYMOUSLY REPORT DRUG HOUSES, PROSTITUTION, GAMBLING SITES


Please contact the special operations unit at 483-1820.

The Special Operations Section is responsible for many tasks that require undercover operations in order to enforce various state and local laws. Officers assigned to the unit investigate a multitude of crimes relating to vice and prostitution, gambling violations, and liquor law violations. The unit is also responsible for fugitive extraditions, the landlord tenant program, the hotel-motel drug interdiction program, and follow up on all patrol narcotics cases. Also located in the Special Operations Section is the REACH team and Tri-County Metro Narcotics team. These teams focus on narcotics enforcement. The Special Operations Section is commanded by Lt. David Nosotti who can be reached at (517) 483-4812.
